Founded in Vancouver in 1976, Strand has been actively involved in a number of real estate sectors, including: the development and acquisition of multi-family garden style and high-rise apartments and condominium projects; single family land and housing developments; the development of multi-unit warehouse projects; and the acquisition of office building properties; and, the provision of mortgage financing to developers for residential and commercial developments throughout North America. Strand is active throughout several regions in North America and has its head office in Vancouver, with regional offices in the southeastern and western United States. Strand’s active projects are comprised of over 6000 residential units in seven states, and in Metro Vancouver, comprising 600 condominiums and 450 rental apartments. The Metro Vancouver division has established itself as a well recognized and respected developer in the region by demonstrating innovation, an ability to establish a robust pipeline of significant projects in a short period of time and a commitment to building for the fast-evolving needs of the region’s diverse demographic composition.

 

Reporting to the President, the VP Finance will provide strategic leadership for all finance, accounting and IT functions of the company.  The incumbent will establish and implement all aspects of financing, financial reporting, cost controls and IT systems. With a focus on all financial aspects of the company’s real estate portfolio, including operations, development, construction, asset management and sales and marketing, the VP Finance will provide overall leadership and input to strategy and business direction. The successful candidate will display a genuine interest in real estate and a fundamental understanding of the key drivers that impact real estate development. The VP Finance will provide detailed financial analysis of business operations and evaluate all project assumptions in order to provide broad perspective on risk and recommend mitigating strategies. In addition to managing the company’s finance and accounting functions, the VP Finance will work closely with the President to secure equity and debt financing for development projects, along with managing investor and banking relationships.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a CPA designation and bring a minimum of 7 years of experience in real estate development as a Controller or Director/Vice President of Finance. The successful candidate must possess solid quantitative and technical skills as well as an ability to think analytically and strategically, whilst showing a willingness to be hands on when needed.
